We strongly recommend the following workflow:

1. Install your plugin on a test/staging site and a production site
2. Set auto updates on the test site, and manual updates on the production site.
3. After an edit confirm it on the test site. Once confirmed, update your production site
4. If there is a problem, fix it on the test site, then and only then update the production site.

This ensures stability and avoids breaking live environments.
